What on earth is a WordPress Template?!

The WordPress website is made of texts, menus, images, and other content that displays in the webpage screen.

The template tells how the content displays.

Let’s say for example, a template I’ll call « T » is made that way: the main menu is at the top of the page, the title of the page just below, then another menu on the right and an image below the right menu and the content of the page made of text and pictures on the left side of the screen.

This template « T » is defined at the webdesign stage of the web project.

A website usually has 2 or more templates, the home page being most of the time different from the other pages.

On the WordPress official website, one can find ready to use templates. They are enriched with colors and images and become WordPress Themes.

Today, Templates are defined for HD screens as well as Smart Phones, they are called responsive.
